Julie Fidler our 7th Life Member

Congratulations to President Julie Fidler on being awarded Life Membership of the TCAV. Julie has been a Board member for 18 years and is in her 10th year as President. Astoningishly Julie over these 18 years has missed at most one solitary Board meeting maybe zero!!!
Julie has also been a presenter and examiner with the TCAV training school and has been on our two trips to the USPTA conference after securing a relationship between the two outstanding coaching organizations.

Larry Dempster inducted into TCAV Hall of Fame

Larry Dempster was inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of his amazing contribution to tennis coaching including working with a smorgasbord of high performance players and his 35 year contribution to the Beaumaris Lawn tennis Club. Congratulations Larry.

Julie Fidler read out Larry’s amazing biography including having an association with a player for the last 20 years at the Australian Open. Larry followed with an excellent speech with some excellent insights and messages for some of the young coaches in the room.

TCAV Awards night at Kooyong

The TCAV enjoyed another brilliant awards night last Sunday at the magnificent Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club. The Davis Cup room was filled with tennis coaching royalty including many of our esteemed Hall of Fame inductees and TCAV Legend Norman Cahill. Hall of Fame inductees in attendance included Lois Plowman, Coin Davis, Ian Barclay, Victor Eke, Rupert Ferdinands, Don Cameron, Will Coghlan, Colin Price, Larry Dempster was inducted last night after an amazing coaching career and commitment to his beloved Beaumaris Lawn Tennis Club.

TCAV’s new Life Member

Peter Owen was overwhelmed to be awarded Life Membership of his beloved TCAV in front of his lifelong coach and mentor Norman Cahill and many of the greatest coaches Victoria has ever produced.

He was also thrilled to have fellow Life Members Judy Bull and Rob Peterson present at the awards night.

Michael Mattschoss awarded Rookie Coach of the Year

Earlier this year a wonderful young coach sadly and unexpectedly passed away rocking the tennis community. Michael was incredibly fit, committed to becoming the best coach possible, and working under the guidance of our 2014 George Gilmore Club Coach of the Year AJ Muscillo.

Michael narrowly missed out on the 2014 Rookie Coach award and AJ again nominated him for the 2015 award. The TCAV were delighted to be able to reward Michael for his outstanding rise and contribution as a young coach and we believed it a was fitting that he share the award with another outstanding winer Ebony Miles.

Categories include Rising Star, Rookie, and the prestigious George Gilmour Memorial Trophy for the Most Outstanding Club or Centre Coach. New Orleans tour in full swing!

Bourbon street and the Riverside Hilton are alive with the TCAV Aussie contingent enjoying true southern hospitality. Twenty TCAV coaches ranging in age from 17 to 77 (yes 17-77) have ventured to New Orleans to participate in the 2015 USPTA World conference.
